Meet Dr. Tom Moonen
DMD, MCID, FCDS(BC)
Dr. Tom Moonen attended the University of British Columbia for his undergraduate sciences and dental degree (DMD). He then practiced family dentistry for two years in Vancouver before returning to school to pursue his Graduate Orthodontic Degree (MClD) at the University of Western Ontario. He returned home to Vancouver where he has been practicing on the North Shore since 1991. He opened the current practice Westview Orthodontics in 1997.
Dr. Moonen was born in Vancouver and along with his three brothers, spent most of his childhood here. His last few years of high school were spent in Courtenay, on Vancouver Island, after his family moved there to experience a more rural lifestyle.
He currently enjoys spending time with his wife, Tania, an orchestra conductor, and their two sons, Matthew and Benjamin. The family enjoys skiing, biking, and travelling.
Dr. Moonen is a clinical assistant professor at the University of B.C. and has taught there for over a decade. He is the past-president of the B.C. Society of Orthodontists and a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontics, and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics. He is also a member of the Seattle Study Club, which focuses on interdisciplinary dentistry and has lectured to local and international audiences.
