A Moderate Approach To Children's Orthodontics
As your child grows and develops, orthodontic issues could be developing too. Children should visit the orthodontist for an assessment at around age seven so that any issues can be identified and monitored.
We take a less-is-more approach to orthodontics for children, based primarily on monitoring growth and development. We will only intervene when strictly necessary, usually in cases where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are being prevented from erupting properly.
Early orthodontic evaluation and treatment can help address many of the common oral problems that children face as they grow up – including speech and eating issues, teeth grinding, thumb sucking, and more. Information gathered during routine monitoring can help guide and inform future orthodontic treatment.
At Westview Orthodontics, we offer jaw growth guidance for our young patients, including treatment with traditional braces.
Consultations & Monitoring for Children
We recommend scheduling your child's first orthodontic evaluation when they reach age seven. This visit will give us an opportunity to determine if any orthodontic treatment is needed. If it is, we can commence with a treatment plan. If not, we offer complimentary assessment appointments every six to 12 months until your child is ready for comprehensive orthodontic care.
