If you wear braces, a mouth guard can help protect your brackets and wires from damage if you receive a blow to the mouth. They can also help prevent injuries to the soft tissues of your mouth that can be caused by braces and teeth upon impact. For patients undergoing treatment to move their teeth, we recommend a 'boil up' mouthguard obtained at most sports stores.
For people who clench or grind their teeth at night, jaw pain, headaches, and damage to teeth can be serious health concerns. Night mouth guards, also known as brux guards, are custom-fitted to form a cushioning layer between the upper and lower teeth, helping prevent tooth damage and relieve jaw tension when you sleep.
Our team can make custom sports guards for you as needed, but night guards are made by your dentist after the completion of your orthodontic treatment.
